Random Acts of Safety - The Challenge

During my time off over the holiday break, I made a point to get outside in the fresh air as much as I could. During one of my walks, I passed through a dog park that had an icy hill that I noticed some people were having difficulty walking up it. It was icy and cold and it didn’t look like anyone had bothered to clear the ice in some time. I thought to myself that someone could really get hurt if they slipped on that hill and I decided I would bring some gravel with me the next time I came and put it on the icy hill so people would have some traction to combat the icy surface. Then I started thinking, why wouldn’t I share this information with others so they can use it too? Who knows, maybe someone has an icy hill they didn’t think to put gravel on.

So, I wanted to think of other ways that I could encourage others to think of different ways to improve safety within their community or workplace and then share the information with others as a learning experience. And of course, I wanted to reward people for actively improving health and safety in their community! Thus, the Random Acts of Safety Challenge was born.

Our team at Safety Ahead would like to challenge you, as a company or an individual, to perform a random act of safety in your community or workplace. The only requirements are that the act must be related to protecting the safety of others and it must not endanger anyone at anytime. We would like to see a picture and a story from anyone who wishes to participate. The challenge will start over at the beginning of each month, and a new prize draw will be completed at the end of the month once all the entries have come in. If you would like to join us, please comment below with your Random Act of Safety (story and picture) and we will enter you in the draw to win a prize (think gift card and some sweet swag)! We will be accepting new entries for the draw each month. The January Random Act of Safety will run until the end of the month, so make sure you get your picture and story posted before February 1st!

As we walk into 2021

As we walk into 2021, hoping for a better year than the last, we should take time to remember all that we have to be grateful for. Even during the pandemic, which was a difficult time for many businesses and families, there were little pieces of silver lining scattered throughout these hard times. Our team at Safety Ahead recently took some time to reflect on the past year, not only did we recall the difficulties that we, and our clients faced, but we remembered the positive things that came out of 2020. Our communities pulled together to help limit the spread of COVID-19 and worked hard to implement constantly changing safety protocols at the recommendations of our provincial health officers. By working hard to implement these new changes, businesses and individuals would have been able to prevent some of their patrons, and loved ones, from getting sick. Though the effort to get COVID-19 under control is still ongoing, we wanted to think of other ways that we could encourage people to think of other ways to improve safety within their community or workplace. Thus, the Random Acts of Safety Challenge was born.

Our team would like to challenge you, as a company or an individual, to perform a random act of safety in your community or workplace. The only requirements are that the act must be related to protecting the safety of others and it must not endanger anyone at anytime. We would like to see a picture and a story from anyone who wishes to participate. The Safety Ahead team will be doing our own Random Act of Kindness as well! If you would like to join us, please comment below with your Random Act of Safety (story and picture) and we will enter you in the draw to win a prize (think gift card and some sweet swag)! We will be accepting entries for the draw until the end each month, so make sure you get your picture and story posted before the end of the month! The challenge begins now…
